We have achieved Millie's Mark!

Millie’s Mark logo with a pink giraffe and purple text, “Inspiring Excellence in Paediatric First Aid”

Having the Millie’s Mark award demonstrates your commitment to going above and beyond the minimum requirements for keeping children safe. It shows that all staff working directly with children not only hold a paediatric first aid certificate but that they are also competent in how to apply this in practice. Achieving Millie’s Mark shows you have the correct procedures and documentation in place and gives parents that greater reassurance.

We held a successful toilet training workshop this week. The session enabled parents to gain top tips and advice, have the opportunity to share experiences and concerns and ask any questions about toilet training. The workshop was implemented to help parents gain an insight into how to support this stage of development and aid with the transition from nappies to using the potty/toilet.

We enjoyed a reindeer themed day, made gingerbread men and shared the story, tucked into Christmas dinner and we are looking forward to party day on Friday. A reminder that nursery will be closed from 6pm on Friday 22nd December and re-opens at 7.15am on Tuesday 2nd January 2024. We wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

The Hinckley and Bosworth Christmas Toy and Food Appeal has been running since 2009 and has grown every year since its launch. The appeal is a huge partnership effort between Leicestershire County Council’s Children and Family Wellbeing Service, the Salvation Army and the Hinckley and Bosworth Food Bank, as well as numerous other partners and supporters. Each year, it provides hundreds of struggling families with toys and food vouchers, all thanks to the generosity of local groups, churches, businesses, and members of the public. Last year’s appeal was the biggest yet, with brand-new toys given to 910 children and food vouchers helping 386 families. Partners, supporters and families celebrated the success of the appeal and are hoping 2023 will top last year’s record for donations collected and given out. Donation bins are located throughout Hinckley, where people who would like to do their bit to ensure a child gets a present on Christmas Day can drop off their gift of a brand-new toy. The bins also feature a QR code for the appeal’s Amazon wish list – donors can select a toy and order it to be sent directly to the organisers. We have a donation bin situated by the Little Learners entrance door down through the side gate for anyone wishing to bring along donations.

Our little Learners experienced a Christmas themed trip to Ash End farm. They were able to feed the array of animals such as the goats, sheep and guinea pigs. They sang Christmas songs, took part in a little nativity and had the opportunity to meet Santa. We had so much fun at the farm for our Christmas treat!

To celebrate the amazing life the Queen lived, we invited all the children to come into nursery this week dressed in red, white and blue clothes. We planned activities linked to The Queen and commemorated the life of Her Majesty. We also learnt about our new King and based activities around this too. The children made cakes, flags, played a pass the crown game, listened to the National Anthem and also enjoyed an afternoon tea. To pay tribute to our late Queen, we invited parents and children to place a small bunch of flowers or a single stem on our memorial corner which was located at the side entrance.

We held a Frozen themed day for our Little Learners as this was the children's interest. The children and staff were invited to come dressed in something relating to Frozen, as a King or Queen, or wearing something white or blue. We did lots of dancing, singing and had tuff trays themed around the film.
