At St Bernards we provide additional learning opportunities by organising an array of outings within the community. These allow for children's knowledge to be extended upon and offer first hand experiences.

The Little Wrigglers
The Little Explorers
The areas for our Little Explorers are designed to not only provide learning zones to promote the EYFS but also to stimulate and support the curiosity and inquisitiveness of the toddler age range 24/36 months. Children have the opportunity to experience construction, mark making, roleplay, creative workshops, small world and sand/water play. Key workers play an integral role within this area and actively support the child's learning and development to ensure each child's full potential is met.

The Little Learners
The little Learners are situated to the rear of the building. The room is sub divided to incorporate different stimulating areas for creative minds, role play, mathematics, construction, book area, small world and loose parts play, and our cosy pod for relaxation for our children from 36 months to school age. The key workers support the education and learning and ensure a good balance between adult led and child-initiated activities are provided so that the children’s individual interests and development needs are met.
Our Garden
The large rear garden replicates the learning zones within the setting. Children can freely experience construction with many natural materials, digging area enhanced with items for learning, large sand pit, a growing area, a living growing willow tunnel and dome, tyres to balance and create learning zones, a quiet story telling area and a mud kitchen. We also have a tree house, pirate ship and an outdoor school house. The children learn about animal care and mini beasts through the observation of our bug hotel and nursery pet corner.
